SER has negotiated special discounted rates for conference attendees at the two venue hotels, Fiesta Americana and Holiday Inn, both situated along the historic Paseo de Montejo, a wide, scenic boulevard lined with ornate colonial mansions that runs through the heart of Merida. Both hotels are within walking distance of restaurants, bars, cafés, museums and the city’s central plaza.

Please review the following information carefully before proceeding to the Online Hotel Reservation Form.

Tasa Cero (0% Value Added Tax)
In addition to discounted rates, conference attendees are eligible to take advantage of a tax discount offered through a program of the Mexican federal government that benefits participants of international conferences, conventions, fairs and expositions. Referred to as ‘Tasa Cero,’ this program exempts attendees from the 16% Value Added Tax normally charged over and above the cost of lodging and will apply from Friday, August 19, 2011 through the night of Friday, August 26, 2011. Please note that the reservation form will allow you to reserve nights outside of these dates. If you choose to do so, the additional nights will include the 16% IVA.

IMPORTANT:  In order to qualify for this exemption, you must present the following documentation upon check-in at the hotels. Failure to do so will result in the addition of a 16% Value Added Tax to the cost of each night’s stay. 

• Valid passport
• Valid immigration document (referred to as a Tourist Card) issued to all international visitors upon arrival in Mexico. If you are arriving by air, this document will be provided by your air carrier either at the check-in counter or prior to landing in Mexico.
• International credit card issued by a financial institution outside of Mexico. Payment by credit card is required in order to qualify for the Tasa Cero exemption.

Please note that hotel staff will make a photocopy of the above documents at the time of check-in to substantiate your eligibility for the program. They will keep all photocopies strictly confidential at all times unless audited or subpoenaed by government authorities.

Unfortunately, Mexican nationals will not be eligible for a VAT exemption under the Tasa Cero program. They can still reserve their hotel accommodation through the online form below, but will be charged an additional 16% federal tax for each night’s stay.

Payment Policy
Upon completing the Online Hotel Reservation Form, your credit card will be charged for the total cost of the first night. You will be required to present your international credit card at check in and pay for the remainder of your stay at the time of checkout.

Cancellation Policy
A full refund for the first night’s stay will be issued for cancellations made prior to August 1, 2011. No refund will be made for cancellations made after this date.
