Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are very excited about the 4th SER World Conference on Ecological Restoration being held August 21-25, 2011, in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, one of the most pleasant regions in Latin America. This sub-tropical area offers year-round warm temperatures. The rainy season lasts from May to September, so we may experience some rains and cooler temperatures during the days of the Conference. August is also a very enjoyable time of the year for residents and tourists alike to stroll through the streets of Merida to enjoy artisan displays, music and dance in the downtown plazas near Town Hall.

The three states of the Yucatan Peninsula (Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatan), offer a wide variety of natural, cultural and historic attractions for visitors from around the world. Millions of visitors travel safely in these lands of the Mayan every year. The Yucatan does not experience the violence taking place in northern Mexico that is so frequently reported; it is a frequent and safe venue for international conferences and large conventions.
